Founded in February 1996, Indigo Corporation is an information network company in Japan. Based on advanced technologies, extensive know-how, and innovative ideas, Indigo provides a full array of services ranging from consultation on web system construction, site renewal, infrastructure construction, and others in term of Internet-based business.
Indigo is in pursuit of providing new technologies and creating new values through Internet-based communication infrastructure faster than any other.
Challenge
Indigo was midway through a plan to upgrade the website’s architecture and system to better position themselves in the market. As the project’s requirements, the automatic conversion of codes would be made where feasible to prevent additional manual testing work afterward. Indigo, therefore, tried to locate a dedicated team that could help guarantee quality assurance and unit testing. This team would work closely with Indigo’s staff from Japan to complete the tasks.
After in-depth consideration, Indigo contacted Orient Software for a meeting. Ultimately, Orient officially became Indigo’s IT partner in January.
Solution
Responding to the requirements from Indigo, Orient Software gathered an elite team of qualified testers who were all experts in their field. This team worked seamlessly with their counterparts at Indigo in Japan to keep up with the tight schedule. The main technologies of this project included the Strut2 framework and JUnit.
As planned, the primary responsibility of Orient’s team was to test and document old source codes so that Indigo’s website development can run without any interruption. Additionally, our team was responsible for writing the Java unit and automation tests, to be delivered daily to the client. Indigo always kept updates the project status to make sure we were in the same page.
Along with unit testing, Orient’s team gave some trainings of Java domain knowledge for some of Indigo’s engineers who were unfamiliar with this programming language.
Impact
With the close and seamless collaboration between the two teams, Indigo was able to progress its website development as planned. The unit testing process conducted by Orient’s team went well, allowing Indigo to save time and focus more on other important tasks while still getting a good amount of work done together with minimal errors or setbacks along the way.
In spite of the strict deadlines and time zone differences between Japan and Vietnam, our team managed to keep clear and close communication with Indigo and deliver quality work on time. As a result, the client was thankful for what we contributed to the project and their team.
